About Jake Burton Carpenter

Jake Burton Carpenter dedicated his life to snowboarding since founding Burton Snowboards at his home in Vermont in 1977. Burton plays a vital role in transforming snowboarding from a casual pastime into a global sport by developing innovative products, sponsoring world-class riders, and advocating for snowboarding at various ski resorts.

A commemorative day for Jake Burton Carpenter, who passed away in November 2019, celebrates his legacy in snowboarding. The global memorial day "A DAY FOR JAKE" is observed on March 16, 2024, in 55 resorts across 15 countries, including Hakuba Goryu.

The event details are as follows:

Schedule:
- March 16 (Saturday)
- 9:00 - 11:00: Sticker distribution at the BURTON tent on the Upper Deck.
- 12:00: Gather at the meeting point via Sky 4 and Tōmi Second Pair Lift for the "Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament." Group photo followed by a group ride.
- Around 12:30 - 13:00: Event concludes

Sticker Distribution:
- 9:00 - 11:00: Stickers will be distributed at the BURTON tent on the Upper Deck.

Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament:
- The tournament will be held in the gathering area on the slope. (Prizes for winners will be presented at the BURTON tent in the Base Area.)

Group Ride:
- Participants will ride together in memory of Jake Burton, taking one slow group descent. The group descent (one run) will prioritize safety, led by a flag holder.

Gifts for Participants:
- An on-site lottery will be conducted for participants (those who applied through the Splash app).
- Gifts, including Jake's biography (book) and Burton merchandise (eco-bag, pass case), will be presented to 13 lucky winners.
- Winners can collect their prizes at BURTON HAKUBA GORYU during the operating hours on March 16 (Saturday).
