Today was cloudy and became sunny afterward, with wind blows from the north.

The new snow was nice and dry, different from the yesterday.

 

However, fresh snow was only on the surface, the bottom is still icy.

The ungroomed area was not even easy to make turns.

 

The wind was too strong to keep the chairlifts openrating.

 

Before noon, the chairlift of alps was slowed down.

 

 

 

The snow condition will be affected by elevation, time, grooming, sunshine, wind, etc.

 

When the temperature is about 0℃, the snow will be melting and frozen back and forth, and if the cold wind blew, the light snow will be blown away,  left the icy surface on the ground.

 

If the temperature is higher than 0℃, the snow will get soften, and the melting snow will become the wet surface to slow you down.

 

 

And the air pressure is also related to temperature.

With every 100m of elevation, about 0.6℃ will decrease.

 

Accordingly, the elevation difference between the bottom and the summit is about 700m,  causing 4℃ will decrease.

 

This is the snow about 0 degrees. It’s the snow when getting melting and freezing.
